Best Places to Watch the Olympics in Las Vegas
|
There is still one week left in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and if you’ve been avoiding leaving your house in fear of missing an event you are actually missing more than you may think. Since Las Vegas is filled with sports books that offer ample seating, dozens of HD TVs and drinks specials and some great nightlife venues that know how to get you into the Olympic spirit, the Strip is the perfect place to catch the summer games.
Go big or go home! Experience the Olympics on an Olympic-sized screen with the 130-feet-by-40-feet Las Vegas Strip-side video screens at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. The giant screens will air select events throughout the rest of the games.
Toast to the games and experience a gold medal yourself at Hyde Bellagio with two specialty Olympic drinks: Captain America (Corzo Silver Tequila, Cocci Americano, Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth and tonic water topped with Prickly Pear Cassis air foam that creates a red, white and blue drink) or the Gold Medal (Captain Morgan, yellow chartreuse, pineapple and lemon juices and angostura bitters topped with gold flakes). Both will give you the kick you need to cheer on Team USA during the early hours of the games on Hyde’s screens.
And over at the Luxor, Doohan’s Bar & Lounge has a classic sports ambiance, HD Plasma TVs, pool tables, and a killer $30 All-YOU-Can-Drink special from 5pm-10pm that will make your London 2012 Olympic viewing a blast, not to mention the tasty bar classics with a gourmet twist that will knock your taste buds out!
But perhaps one of the best places to watch Gabby Douglas win her third gold or Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh dominate on the sandy courts is Lagasse’s Stadium at the Palazzo. Your Olympic watching will get kicked up a notch as you enjoy the summer games with stadium style-seating, plush couches, private viewing rooms and more than 100 HD TVs including a 9-foot by 16-foot main TV so you don’t miss a thing.
Lagasse’s Stadium also offers plenty of food based off of Emeril Lagasse’s famous creole style. But since Lagasse’s Stadium lures in sports fans more than anything else you can expect Creole twists on some old sports bar classics including stadium classics of Cheesy Beer & Pretzels, Chili Cheese Fries, Creole-Boiled Shrimp, Buffalo Chicken Wings and more. Main courses, err Main Event options include ‘Bam’wich, Stadium Club, po’ boys, Spice-Rubbed Baby Back Ribs and more. There is also a full bar where you can toast to your favorite Olympics game.
And after spending the day watching game after game make sure you take in the rest of Palazzo’s entertainment like Blue Man Group and the final days of Phantom – the Las Vegas Spectacular. Happy Olympic watching!
