Cee Lo Green Postpones Loberace Show
|
If you were expecting to see Cee Lo Green perform his newest character Loberace in the new Las Vegas show Cee Lo Green Presents: LOBERACE at Planet Hollywood this August, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer for what has promised to be an electrifying performance. It turns out, Green doesn’t back out of commitments.
Last week, the five time Grammy Award winner and singer of the 2010 single “Forget You” announced that he was postponing the opening of his Las Vegas show due to scheduling conflicts for NBC’s “The Voice,” in which he is a judge and coach for the singing contestants. In a statement on his website, Green apologizes for the postponement but says he must keep his commitment to the show.
“It's always been a dream of mine to be among the great music legends who have had a Las Vegas residency and I was very much looking forward to launching ‘Loberace’ this year,” states Cee Lo Green. “But, as we move into the third season of The Voice, with my dedicated commitment to the filming schedule and love for my role on the show, I will need to postpone the opening of ‘Loberace’ to early 2013. Most importantly, to all my fans who have already purchased tickets, please accept my sincerest apology and I hope you can still join me in Vegas next year, so I can properly and finally introduce you to my brainchild, ‘Loberace’! Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
Green and his Loberace character are now planned to whirl into Planet Hollywood in 2013 with his debut show on Wednesday, February 27.
If you missed news about Green’s newest show, you no doubt have already put two-and-two together and realized “Loberace” is likely and loosely based around the famous pianist and vocalist Liberace. Guests can expect to experience Cee Lo’s stylistic flair mixed with over-the-top technology, magic, “sexified” showgirls, a larger-than-life wardrobe, and advanced stage design in which Liberace all enjoyed. Rumor has it audiences will be taken on a colorful journey through legendary moments in music from Prince to Blue Magic to the Rolling Stone and more.
Once the new show is a go, “Loberace” will be held after Planet Hollywood’s other hit production Peepshow Wednesday through Friday at 11 p.m. and Saturday at midnight. So far the new show is scheduled to run throughout March and into mid-April.
Green’s postponement just might be the best marketing ploy for the show. Getting guests excited about a new production and then taking it away makes us all want to see it that much more!
