Chris Harrison of 'The Bachelor' Helps Palazzo Unveil New Rose

Roses are red, violets are blue, and The Palazzo in Las Vegas has a new flower for you! That’s right; the Las Vegas hotel is now displaying a new breed of red roses, and who better than Chris Harrison, host of ABC’s “The Bachelor” to help unveil the new flower?

Known for his red rose ceremonies on “The Bachelor,” Harrison was a natural at The Palazzo Rose ceremony on Saturday as he led the audience in a toast, and joined John Caparella, president and chief operating officer of The Palazzo, The Venetian and Sands Expo in dousing an arrangement in champagne, which is a tradition of the floral community to mark the “christening” of a new variety.

“This is my kind of rose ceremony,” Harrison joked when the champagne arrived.

Harrison also announced that The Venetian’s newest headliner Faith Hill was the first to receive an arrangement with The Palazzo Rose on Friday for the opening night of the new limited engagement show Soul2Soul, which also features her husband Tim McGraw.

The gorgeous new flowers feature deep crimson red petals and a large amount of beautiful foliage and have a long shelf life that both florists and consumers will love. The Palazzo Rose will only be available at the Las Vegas hotel for one year, until they are more readily available at florists and retail centers.

The roses were bred and grown in The Netherlands, which is the world’s largest exporter of roses. They are distributed by Reineri, a prestigious Dutch floral supplier and are imported locally by Greenfield & Company of Las Vegas.

“It takes about five years to develop a new variety of red rose,” said Peter de Mos, general manager of Reineri.  “This christening ceremony is literally the culmination of hundreds and hundreds of hours of work and dedication to create the newest and greatest variety of red rose.”

And if you’re wondering why the new breed of roses is being named after one of Las Vegas’ most luxurious hotels, Caparella has some insight as to why The Palazzo Rose is so aptly named.

“Since we opened The Palazzo five years ago, millions of people have professed their love for this brand,” said Caparella. “And when you talk love, what is more appropriate than a red rose? In the end, this new rose absolutely mirrors what we are about,” he continued. “We are passionate about the quality – and the romance – of our Italian-inspired resorts and we are thrilled to be the namesake of the world’s newest variety of red rose.”

The Palazzo Roses are also a perfect decoration for the holidays so make sure you stop by the Las Vegas hotel for a look.
