Cirque du Soleil is well-represented in Las Vegas. The acclaimed Canadian circus has seven productions on the Strip, three of which just celebrated major milestones. Within days of each other, “Michael Jackson ONE", “O”, and “KA” held special events for their 2,000th, 9,000th and 6,000th show. That’s an impressive feat for any production company, but to have them back-to-back-to-back? That’s Cirque du Soleil.
Michael Jackson ONE kicked off the celebrations when it performed its 2,000th show at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Monday, August 14. Guests received a complimentary show poster and watched in awe as streamers and confetti fell from the theatre. Since opening in 2013, ONE has entertained more than 3.5 million guests and brought Michael Jackson’s hit songs to life in a stunning way.
Just three days later on Thursday, August 17, the jaw-dropping aquatic Cirque production “O” celebrated its 9,000th show at the Bellagio Resort & Casino. Before the show, the cast and crew celebrated with snow cones, ice cream and other sweets. “O” opened in 1998 and has since wowed more than 15 million fans at its state-of-the-art theater with a 1.5 million-gallon pool that plays host to a majority of the acts. The production features more Olympic athletes than any other Cirque production.
Rounding out the festivities, KA commemorated 6,000 performances on Wednesday, August 23. The celebration kicked off with a “thank you” speech by Company Manager Yago Pita. Cast members toasted to the occasion in custom “6,000 show” glasses before indulging in cupcakes, candies and other sweet treats. KA opened in November 2004 and has since been hailed as one of the most groundbreaking productions on The Strip. Nearly 9 million guests have come to witness the spectacular in its 13 years existence.
