Divas Las Vegas Celebrates 1,000th Show at Imperial Palace
|
Las Vegas is proving that the hit celebrity impersonator drag show, Frank Marino’s Divas Las Vegas at the Imperial Palace is anything but a drag as it celebrates its 1,000 performance on the Strip this Saturday, July 21. And with the self-proclaimed Queen of the Strip, Frank Marino, as the show’s lead character, it is no wonder Divas Las Vegas has been such a success.
If you are not familiar with Frank Marino, you don’t know what you’re missing. He performs some of the most spot-on female impersonations you may ever see, and he does it all with the kind of energy and excitement you’d expect from a performer. That same enthusiasm is the reason his show is celebrating its 1,000th performance and why he’s become somewhat of a legend in Las Vegas.
Marino is the only entertainer with two stars on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame, has a street named in his honor, has his own official day (Feb.1), a key to the city, a branded gambling betting wheel, his own building wrap on the Strip, and has been named “Entertainer of the Century.” He’s even recently stepped off the Strip and brought his diva self to reality TV, appearing on Bravo’s “The Millionaire Matchmaker” and E!’s “Fashion Police.” And while Marino is obviously the star of the show, Divas Las Vegas offers several other incredible performers who make the production that much more spectacular. Divas features an all-star cast of female impersonators who uncannily recreate the likeness of some of the biggest ladies in Hollywood today. The production is also the only Las Vegas tribute show to feature 17 characters each night including Cher, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Bette Midler, and Madonna.
Always staying current with what’s going on in Hollywood, Divas was also the first on the Strip to add new female celebrities such as Rihanna, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. And the show’s newest Diva comes in the form of Katy Perry with her hit songs “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot n Cold.” Marino himself portrays comic icon Joan Rivers and narrates the entire production, changing frequently between acts.
And speaking of wardrobe changes, wait until you see the costumes! The 17 performers not only sound almost identical to the real female stars but they also look like them too. With numerous wardrobe changes that include full-length sparkling gowns and incredible costumes you’ll recognize, Divas Las Vegas will have you believing the stars are actually on stage and not being played by a drag queen!
