The 10th anniversary celebration of Vegas Uncork’d hit the Caesars Palace with a bang on Friday, April 29th. Las Vegas’s most highly anticipated culinary and wine experience captures the spirit of fine dining and fun over the course of four days, with a variety of events held all throughout the city.
The Grand Tasting, held at Caesars’ opulent Garden of the Gods pool, served as Friday night’s main event. Over 50 vendors lined the edges of the pool deck, serving up an endless arrangement of gourmet dishes from the world’s most renowned chefs and wineries.
Entrance to the Grand Tasting gave me and hundreds of other foodies and wine connoisseurs free-reign of the delicious delicacies and top-notch spirits offered at the event. The intoxicating aroma of spices, sauces, sizzling meats, baking breads and more filled the air while the enthusiastic DJ set the scene with a spirited, dynamic soundtrack.
I started the night with a glass of Bellacosa, an approachable, earthy cabernet sauvignon by Daniel Cohn. As I savored my glass, a string of three Gordon Ramsay owned booths caught my eye. From Gordon Ramsay BURGR, I sampled the signature Truffle Burger, served in the form of a slider. The freshly baked bun complimented the perfectly grilled patty that seemed to melt in my mouth. From Gordon Ramsay Steak, I got a taste of the signature Veev Acai summer cocktail, infused with real blueberries.
After the refreshing cocktail, I stopped at Sushi Roku for a flavorful Poke Tuna Bowl. The delectable Japanese dish had just the right amount of kick that flawlessly accented it's fresh, exotic taste. Next, I decided to mix it up with the bold flavors of Italy.
Carmine’s eggplant parmesan was a cheese-lover’s paradise, seasoned with an impeccable combination of Italian herbs.
Moving on to BLT Steak, I grabbed a bite of the pork belly with homemade tomato jam. The mouthwatering dish was juicy, succulent and was my personal favorite of the night, with its flavor that seemed to grow even more incredible with each bite.
Sponsored by Bon Appétit, Patron, and Southern Wine and Spirits, the Grand Tasting featured a live performance from a talented violin trio, caricature artists, and numerous free gifts. The event acknowledged celebrity chef, Wolfgang Puck’s, recent lifetime achievement award, celebrating in the utmost appropriate fashion with an exclusive booth featuring bites of his award-winning cuisine. As the night carried on, I was met with a whirlwind of flavors from Las Vegas’s hottest restaurants including Joe’s Seafood, La Gloria, BLT Steak, The Mulino, Giada, and many more.
A number of celebrity chefs were present at the Grand Tasting. I was lucky enough to catch Steve Martorano of Martorano’s in action at his booth, taking photos, greeting fans and cooking up his trademark Italian cuisine.
The accommodating nature of the Grand Tasting’s hospitable staff was both gratifying, and refreshing. Each member of the team had a contagious smile on their face, spreading their joy and energy to each and every guest at the event. Everywhere I looked, attendees were grinning, laughing, dancing and savoring the flavors of best restaurants in the nation. Vegas Uncork’d is beautiful tradition that will continue to bring the culinary and wine communities together in an unprecedented style. Experience the finer side of dining, only with Vegas Uncork’d.
