Family Fridays: America’s Got Talent Live!
|
Las Vegas has its fair share of bizarre and offbeat characters so it’s no surprise that when America’s Got Talent Live show was looking for a home the Las Vegas Strip was a no-brainer. If you’ve ever spent a night huddled around the TV with your family wondering what kind of crazy and utterly astonishing acts or tricks America’s Got Talent contestants will do next then you can appreciate what it’s like to see it all live at the Palazzo!
America’s Got Talent Live brings this season’s winner and other top performers, along with fan-favorite special guests to the Palazzo stage for a one-of-a-kind production that feels more like a variety show than anything else and one the entire family is sure to love.
It begins with William Close, the earth harp player who came in third this season as he stands on an elevated side stage. He effortlessly plays a beautiful song on his Earth Harp accompanied by drums, guitar and a spinning acrobat.
Audience members are then treated to a video welcome, before New Orleans’ own high-tech ballet troupe the Lightwire Theater begin a stirring performance, showing off their limber bodies and beautiful choreography in neon-suited dance uniforms and using puppetry to enhance their performance.
And just when you’re completely in a zen-like state from the earth harp and the elegant ballet routine, Baltimore escape artist Spencer Horsman takes the stage for a white-knuckle straightjacket escape. And to prove his excellent escape artist talents he performs the task while hanging upside down! But perhaps the stars of the show are the winners from this season, the father-son duo from Texas and their Olate Dogs who offer a spectacular dog show where dogs do more than just sit and trot. These Olate dogs show off their agility performing such amazing feats as backflipping, doing the conga and wheelbarrowing across the stage!
Returning to the America’s Got Talent Live show as a unique house band is Tropicana headliners and former “America’s Got Talent” contestants Recycled Percussion. The “junk rock” band, which gained national attention after appearing and placing third on the talent show in 2009 was offered a spot in “America’s Got Talent Live” hosted by Jerry Springer in 2009. In 2010, Recycled Percussion sealed a deal to have their own show at MGM Grand. They now wow audiences at the Tropicana and for a few more weeks at the Palazzo!
The entire show is hosted by last season’s runner-up, the witty comedian Tom Cotter who proves he’s both funny and an excellent host.
America’s Got Talent Live will enjoy an eight-week run with shows Saturday, Oct. 20 through Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the Palazzo Theatre. For a chance to see your favorite act from the show live on stage look for discounted tickets right here on Best of Vegas.
