Four decades of Monet showcased at Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art
Believe it or not the Bellagio is more than just a gorgeous Las Vegas hotel to stay and play in. In fact, it is home to some of Las Vegas’ most impressive artistic masterpieces. From the hotel lobby’s ceiling that is adorned with a Dale Chihuly sculpture to The Picasso restaurant that not only offers a decadent, world-class cuisine but also surrounds diners with some of Picasso’s greatest pieces, this Las Vegas hotel is an artist’s dream. But it’s the expansive collection of famous artwork at Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art that really puts the Bellagio in line with some of the greatest art museums in the world.

Filled with world-class exhibitions of art drawn from internationally known museums and private collections, the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is home to some of the most famous pieces of paintings, sculptures, photographs and mixed media work. In the past the gallery has welcomed exhibits from Picasso, Andy Warhol and Ansel Adams.

The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art’s current exhibit is Claude Monet: Impressions of Light. The exhibit is organized in conjunction with Museum of Fine Arts Boston and is made up of 20 pieces by Claude Monet, the founder of French Impressionist painting. Spanning four decades of Monet’s career, this exhibit features many of the artist’s most famous and recognizable paintings, including “Grainstack (Sunset)” and “Camille Monet and a Child in the Artist’s Garden in Argenteull.” All of these works are drawn from the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, which holds one of the largest collections of paintings by Claude Monet outside of Paris.

Eight additional canvases by other French impressionists including Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Camille Pissarro and Eugene Louis Boudin, Charles Francois, Daubigny, Constant Troyon and Paul Signac accompany Monet’s works. Monet’s inspiration from these painters helped create his own signature style, making it only appropriate that Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art feature their work alongside Monet’s. Guests can experience Monet’s impressive works through Jan. 6, 2013.

And to pair with the exquisite art is the monthly “Art & Wine: A Perfect Pairing” event that takes place on the second Wednesday of each month. The event pairs wines from Bellagio’s own cellar with artwork featured in the current Claude Monet: Impression of Light exhibit. Jason, Smith, Bellagio’s director of wine and master sommelier and Tarissa Tiberti, Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art Director lead the discussion on wine and art.

And on Saturday, Oct 6 join the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art for Museum Day to benefit Three Square Food Bank. When you donate three canned food items you’ll receive two free admission tickets.
