Illness Forces Celine Dion to Cancel Shows at Caesars Palace

Caesars Palace songstress Celine Dion has had to cancel her performances at The Colosseum this week. After fighting the flu last week, Celine was put on bed rest and then later suffered a secondary sinus infection, which was the ultimate reason her shows had to be cancelled this week. Today would have been the start of her final run of shows to end her second year of residency contract. Her third year residency begins June 4.

Celine is set to return to the stage for her previously scheduled shows from Feb. 26 through March 16.

And speaking of Strip headliners, Cirque du Soleil Believe star Criss Angel was a guest speaker for a Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada event earlier in the week. The Magician of the Century spoke to nearly 400 people to bring awareness to the charity and to help raise funds. Angel has been a big supporter of the foundation, doing his part to help kids suffering form cancer and diseases find the financial help they need. Three of his Make-A-Wish Angels were by his side throughout his speech.

In other celebrity news, L.A. Clippers star Chris Paul celebrated his MVP win at the 2013 NBA All-Star Game in Houston, Texas, on Sunday night at Lavo in the Palazzo for the annual Baller’s Ball.

The NBA player arrived at the Las Vegas nightclub around 1:30 a.m. with the trophy in hand. After showing off his win for a few minutes, the trophy was locked away in a back office while Paul began his celebration.

Part of the fun included celebrating his brother C.J.’s 30th birthday with a cake. Paul, his brother and friends danced and partied at a VIP table on the dance floor all night long.

Also partying at one of Lavo’s VIP dance floor tables was Miami Dolphins linebacker Karlos Dansby.

Reality TV star Whitney Port dined with her sister Paige at Tao in the Venetian before also partying at Lavo. The siblings were in town to promote their clothing line Whitney Eve.

Whoopi Goldberg, Patti Austin, Jennifer Hudson, Chaka Khan, Bebe Winans, Carlos Santana, Chris Tucker, Herbie Hancock, James Ingram, Will.I.Am, and Will Smith have been added to the list of stars who will attend the Keep Memory Alive gala to mark the 80th birthdays of Quincy Jones and Sir Micahel Caine April 13 at MGM Grand. Stay tuned for more details on this event.

That’s all of the celebrity news I have for today. I’ll be back tomorrow with more!
