This is quite the milestone year for Le Reve – The Dream at the Wynn Las Vegas. In January the aquatic spectacular celebrated its 3,000 performance and on Sunday the show will commemorate its 7th anniversary on the Strip! In May 2005, Le Reve arrived on the Strip under the direction of former Cirque du Soleil genius Franco Dragone. But just because it had the instruction and feel of a Cirque show did not make Le Reve an instant hit. Steve Wynn and his former wife Elaine Wynn believed the show was too dark and complicated for Las Vegas’ audiences. Determined to change the feel of the show, Steve took over the direction and within weeks the production that was once too dark had became the show of his dreams. Critics were soon hailing the show as “jaw-dropping” and it’s been that way ever since. It has been seven years of astounding aerial acrobatics, synchronized swimming, daring feats of strength and agility all performed by more than 90 international athletes and entertainers from 17 countries. Not to mention captivating choreography by “Dancing With the Stars” pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy and the special effects and live music to accompany the incredible acts and performers on stage. If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing Le Reve – The Dream, the show takes audiences on a spectacular journey into the subconscious using a one-million gallon capacity theater that gives guests the feel that they are in a dream-like state. Le Reve’s stage adds to that dreamy feel with its ability to rise and fall from the water creating different levels for the performers to dance and perform on. The story begins with a woman on a bed as it descends into the water just as she sleeps. Her descent into the water symbolizes her dreams, which range from light and airy to dark and disturbed. Along the way aerialists, synchronized swimmer and acrobatic feats accompany each dream making for a performance you’ve never seen before, at least not while you were awake! And you can watch this incredible journey in Le Reve’s newly reconstructed theater-in-the-round where no seat is more than 40 feet from the stage allowing for incredible views of the performers entering and exiting from both the water and the sky.
