Named “Entertainer of the Year” and “Comedian of the Year” Scott “Carrot Top” Thompson has proved he knows how to keep an audience entertained. And for the last 15 years he’s done so using a trunk full of unbelievable props and wacky inventions, for an energetic and hilarious show that makes even the wildest of comedians look tame.
Carrot Top got his comedic start when he was a student at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. During his freshman year, Carrot Top attended a live stand-up comedy club for the first time and was instantly inspired by what he saw. Months later the campus bulletin board posted an open mic night and with a little push from his roommate he made his comedic debut. It was in his second performance that he introduced his first prop to the stage. The prop was an instant success and from then on he never took to the stage without a prop.
After continuing on the comedy circuit for a while he got his first television appearance on “Comic Strip Live” in 1991. But it was an appearance on “The Tonight Show” in 1992 that changed his life forever. Appearing to just about every home in America, Carrot Top was able to expose his unique brand of comedy in a way he never had been able to before. Since then he has wowed television audiences appearing on “Live with Regis and Kelly,” “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher,” ‘The Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” Last Comic Standing,” “Chelsea Lately,” “Criss Angel – Mindfreak,” and many more. He’s also made several big screen debuts including roles and appearances in “Dennis the Menace Strikes Again” and “The Hangover.”
By the late 1990’s Carrot Top was the highest grossing touring comedian of all time and with a show that rivaled rock concerts in its design, it was no wonder his show was such a success. Using lights, lasers, loud music, fog machines and flame and confetti cannons, Carrot Top’s show was more than just funny, it was a full on multimedia production and that eventually caught the eye of MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
After headlining for MGM Grand for 15 weeks a year, Carrot Top moved to the Luxor where he performs almost 300 shows a year in the Atrium Theatre. Here, Carrot Top has lured in thousands of fans as he uses pop culture, politics, music and whatever else catches his eye to make audiences laugh.
