Mainstream Vegas: Louie Anderson
|
Louie Anderson is taking laughing out loud to a whole new level. The two-time Emmy Award winner has made a name for himself as one of the funniest comedians in not only Las Vegas but the country, and its due in part to his hilarious, family-friendly show Louie Anderson – LOL at Palace Station.
Named “One of the 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time,” by Comedy Central, it is no wonder audiences can’t stop laughing out loud at Louie, and his hit show. The 90-minute show features hilarious tales about growing up in the Midwest, being one of 11 children and having an alcoholic father. And even with such serious material to work with, Louie still knows how to turn it into a hilarious comedy routine without all of the vulgarity and raunchiness of other comedy shows. Louie Anderson LOL also brings to the stage some of Anderson’s famous comedian friends for a night you won’t soon forget.
Anderson first burst onto the comedy scene in 1981 when he would test out his comedy routine at local comedy clubs. At the time, Anderson’s comedy was nothing more than a hobby as he served as a counselor for troubled children. Eventually catching the eye of a comedy scout, Anderson won his first comedy competition and his career finally began to take off. It wasn’t until three years later, when he made his television debut on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson that Anderson really got the attention he deserved. And as they say, the rest was history.
From the Tonight Show, Anderson went on to perform his stand-up routine on several other comedy outlets including Leno, Letterman, “Comic Relief,” Showtime and HBO. Eventually Anderson broke into acting and held starring roles in Grace Under Fire, Touched By An Angel, Chicago Hope, and films such as Coming to America and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
If you don’t remember seeing Anderson in any of the above television shows or movies than you’re sure to have at least seen him on the syndicated hit series, “Family Feud” where he served as host for several years. He was also the creator and producer of the two-time Emmy Award-winning animated series on FOX, "Life with Louie." Just like his stand-up routine, the series was also about his own childhood and life with his father. In addition to his TV and film rolls, Anderson is also an author having penned the book "Dear Dad-Letters from an Adult Child" in 1989.
For a chance to laugh out loud with Anderson and his slew of comedy friends you can find discounted tickets to Louie Anderson LOL right here on Best of Vegas. Louie performs Tuesday through Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Palace Station Louie Anderson Theater.
