America’s most popular star search finder, “American Idol” has been making headlines in the past few months, not because of the incredible talent of it’s contestants but because of the cat fighting that’s been occurring between the two diva judges, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. And now, the pop princesses are bringing their quarrels to the Strip stage as they tape the semifinals at The Mirage.
“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest along with judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson arrived in The Entertainment Capital of the World yesterday to begin taping for semi-finals at The Mirage for the “Fox” hit. The taping started last night and continues tonight with the 40 contestants remaining divided into groups of 10 competing against each other, with five semifinalists eliminated each night. The remaining 20 will be revealed during the Feb. 28 show.
The finalists will perform on the same stage as the hit Las Vegas production Cirque du Soleil’s “The Beatles Love” and we can only hope they bring the same talent to the stage as those performers do on a regular basis. The ladies were recorded last night for broadcast today and the guys are being taped for broadcast on Thursday. Taping is at 5:45 to 8 p.m. so make sure you stick around The Mirage because you just might run into Mariah or Nicki or even hear them fighting through the walls!
