On any given day in Las Vegas you can find some gorgeous women walking up and down the Strip but for the past three days, Sin City has been especially stunning as the 51 contestants of the 61st Annual 2012 Miss USA Pageant that airs from Planet Hollywood on Sunday, June 3 have begun filming, touring and rehearsals for their two-week visit here. It all started on Monday with TV spots for the pageant being filmed at Iron Chef Kerry Simon’s KGB at Harrah’s and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville casino bar in the Flamingo. Once the filming was complete, the lovely ladies were swept off to hair and makeup consultations and modeling shoots. That night, the ladies took a little break form all of their duties and enjoyed dinner at Steve Martorano’s Café Martorano in the Rio. The 51 contestants danced for the cameras that have been constantly following them around before enjoying one of Steve’s delicious Italian meals. 2011 Miss USA Alyssa Campanella was even there and signed Steve’s celebrity wall. While the glamour girls were enjoying Steve’s Italian food, the Chef himself was celebrating the fifth anniversary of his restaurant with a party to benefit the Keep Memory Alive charity. The Platters and the Rat Pack were on hand entertaining guests as they dined on the four-course meal. Upcoming Planet Hollywood headliner Cee Lo Green celebrated with Steve and even invited him to the premiere of his new show “Loberace” at Planet Hollywood on August 29. Stay tuned for more details on the 2012 Miss USA contestants and their duties leading up to the live show on Sunday, June 4. While the 2012 Miss USA contestants have certainly taken over the Strip this week there still are some other celebrities who you need to watch out for this weekend. On Friday, late night funny man Jay Leno will return to the Mirage stage for one night only. If you missed his witty stand-up last time now’s your chance to see him again live this Friday, May 25 at the Mirage Theater at 10:00 p.m. In other Las Vegas news, singer Taio Cruz enjoyed a little Las Vegas magic when he watched master magician David Copperfield’s show in MGM Grand on Tuesday. Absinthe at Caesars Palace and reality TV star Angel Porrino along with BXM rider and MTV star Ricardo Laguna judged Street Food Throwdown at Tivoli Village. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Dirk Nowitzki watched DJ Tiesto’s set at Encore Beach Club during Dirk’s bachelor party and Planet Hollywood headliner hypnotist Marc Savard toured through CSI: The Experience at MGM Grand. That’s all of the celebrity news I have for today but I’ll be back tomorrow with much more.
