Las Vegas’ most legendary illusionists, Siegfried & Roy have spent decades both entertaining audiences with their incredible feats of magic as well as educating them on the importance of protecting the world’s endangered species. While they no longer perform, the duo is still active members of the Las Vegas community with their very own animal conservation habitat and regular Strip appearances, including some of their old show equipment. Playing an active role in Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage, the pair gathered at the attraction on Monday to introduce a new stamp to help protect endangered species. The two welcomed media and guests to the formal unveiling of the U.S. Postal Services “Save Vanishing Species” stamp, with proceeds being donated to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Wildlife Without Borders Multinational Species Conservation Funds, which provides financial assistance to programs that help protect endangered species such as tigers, elephants, rhinoceroses, great apes and marine turtles. For nearly 30 years Siegfried & Roy have been trying to help preserve white tigers around the world. In that time, the duo worked with several of these endangered animals and felt compelled to create a safe environment where they could live and be protected. Thus, the idea for Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat came into fruition. Today, the attraction is geared towards scientific research and education and houses some of the rarest creatures of the wild including those white tigers they are so passionate about saving as well as white lions, panthers, leopards and as the habitat’s name implies a family of Bottlenose Dolphins. Guests to this tropical atmosphere will experience an exotic and enchanting adventure full of the wild’s most majestic creatures. Along the way you’ll learn fun facts about each animal including the dolphin’s birthing process and even watch video footage of a dolphin’s birth, as well as other fun animal facts. In addition to viewing and learning about the animals, guests will be educated on the habitat’s ongoing conservation efforts as well as ideas for how you can get involved and help protect these majestic creatures from disappearing forever. Animal conservation aside, Siegfried & Roy continue to bring their magic to the stage, but not in the way you may think. A friend of Siegfried, illusionist Jan Rouven has had the honor of using the master magician’s old props during his stage show. If you never go a chance to see the famous duo in action or want to rehash some memories, Illusions with Jan Rouven at the Riviera is a show that will not disappoint. Actually, it will shock you! See for yourself.
