Typically the phrase “swimming with the sharks” doesn’t evoke a good feeling but at Golden Nugget, the phrase is just another form of unique entertainment you absolutely must try. And once you realize you won’t actually be coming in to contact with the sea’s most vicious predators, you’ll want to dive right in to the experience! The Golden Nugget offers one of the most unique pools in all of Las Vegas. Called The Tank, this massive $20 million swimming pool is not just a pool but a destination in and of itself, offering a 200,000-gallon aquarium that sits right in its center. And in that aquarium resides six species of sharks, including sand tiger sharks, brown sharks, Pacific blacktip sharks, nurse sharks, and a zebra shark, as well as stingrays and a wide variety of large game fish in a colorful reef habitat all for your viewing pleasure as you swim and relax in the pool. And while there is nothing like being inches away from a shark with nothing but a glass wall to protect you, one of the best ways to view the aquarium is from the inside on the slide. The Tank’s slide starts at the top of the three-story pool and works its way down through the aquarium and past the amazing sea creatures, offering incredible views you won’t believe. Besides the aquarium, The Tank also offers a stunning waterfall, music on the pool deck, live blackjack tables, and a lounge, appropriately called H20. After swimming with the sharks, check out Golden Nuggets other entertainment like impressionist, singer and songwriter Gordie Brown. Known for his spot-on celebrity impressions such as Arnold Schwarzeneger, Jack Nicholson and Sylvester Stallone, Brown has been recognized as Entertainer of the Year and Best Show. If you want to experience the ocean’s most famous creature without getting in The Tank you can always head over to Mandalay Bay and explore over 2,000 sea animals, including sharks at Shark Reef Aquarium. North America’s only predator-based aquarium and exhibit, Shark Reef is home to fourteen different exhibits devoted to the sea’s greatest predators. But it’s the 1.3 million gallon shipwreck exhibit that really captures guests’ attention offering almost 360-degree views of sharks and fish of all kind.
