Not every Las Vegas tour uses two different modes of transportation to let you experience some of Nevada’s most amazing sites. But the Lake Mead Cruise and Hoover Dam Tour by Airbridge does! This unique tour will take you by bus to see the amazing engineering of the Hoover Dam but not before cruising your way through Lake Mead on a paddle wheel boat. Like many Best of Vegas tours, the Lake Mead Cruise and Hoover Dam Tour begins with complimentary pick up at your hotel where you’ll board a state-of-the-art bus and begin your first leg of the tour to the Hoover Dam. As you make your way out of Sin City, passengers will get the opportunity to snap a photo in front of the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign before continuing on a two-hour drive to the Hoover Dam. After enjoying the many comforts of the motor coach including air conditioning, bathrooms, TV monitors and reclining chairs, you’ll be escorted around what’s been named one of America’s Seven Modern Engineering Wonders by Hoover Dam experts from the U.S. Department of the interior. Along the way, you’ll learn fun facts about the Dam like that it is currently the world’s 34th largest hydroelectric generating station. You’ll also be able to view the seventeen turbine-generators that generate a maximum of 2,074 megawatts of hydroelectric power and get to see live presentations, a film on the dam’s construction and history, an exhibit gallery, the Visitor’s Center and observation deck where you’ll take in dramatic views of both the Colorado River and the next destination on your tour - Lake Mead. From the Hoover Dam, guests will bid adieu to the tour bus and board the Desert Princess, an old-fashioned paddle wheel boat that will take guests on a relaxing cruise through the calm waters of Lake Mead. The largest man-made body of water in the Western Hemisphere, Lake Mead is a gorgeous site and one everybody visiting Las Vegas should see. The cruise will spend approximately 1.5 hours floating along the pristine lake before heading back to land for one last sweet stop. After soaking in the history at the Hoover Dam and cruising along Lake Mead, the tour will be able to satisfy their sweet tooth with a short trip to the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory and Cacti and Botanical Gardens. There you’ll learn how Ethel M.’s chocolates are made and enjoy some of their free samples before taking a stroll through an array of Nevada’s most interesting cacti in the Cacti and Botanical Garden.
