After spending almost 20 successful years entertaining audiences on the Las Vegas Strip despite the doubts from their friends in New York, comedy illusionists and Rio headliners, Penn & Teller finally proved to those naysayers that they belong in Vegas when they were inducted into the Entertainer/Artist Hall of Fame at UNLV’s Student Union Ballroom on Thursday. One of Las Vegas’ more unique shows, Penn & Teller blend magic and comedy, to drive home the message that you can’t believe everything you hear and see. And you certainly won’t believe your eyes with some of the amazing acts these two perform. You’ve seen their infamous ShowTime series “BullSh*t!”, Penn and Teller: Tell a Lie, their countless late-night appearances and the British show “Penn and Teller: Fool Us.” If you haven’t heard of the last one, google it, definitely worth any fan’s time. For “Penn and Teller: Fool Us”, the premise is simple. Many talented and unique magicians come to perform for Penn and Teller. If the magician’s act fools Penn and Teller, the magician is awarded a five-star trip to Las Vegas to open for Penn and Teller at the Rio Hotel & Casino. The great part of the show is that there’s amazing magic, insight into the magicians’ world, and Penn and Teller perform! But be warned, watching said programming will definitely give you the urge to check out Penn and Teller for yourself in Las Vegas. They’re act is always manages to surprise you and it’s hilarious. Sometimes it’s Teller, the silent one, that gets the big laughs; that’s talent! After working together for more than 30 years, this dynamic duo sure knows how to captivate an audience. Maybe it’s Penn’s political rants or Teller’s ability to stay completely silent throughout the entire show but whatever it is we keep coming back for more. And being one of the few shows that really makes you stop and think while still making you laugh it’s certainly no wonder why Penn & Teller were inducted UNLV Entertainer & Artist Hall of Fame.
