Penn & Teller Extend Contract through 2018 at the Rio Las Vegas

They’ve been entertaining Las Vegas audiences for 20 years with their outrageous comedy and magic acts and yesterday the eccentric duo Penn & Teller revealed they weren’t going anywhere anytime soon. In celebration of their 20th anniversary on the Strip, Penn & Teller extended their contract for another six years, through 2018 at the Rio. This makes them the longest running headliners at the same property in Las Vegas.

“When we first moved to Vegas, our hoity-toity New York art and theater friends all screamed in horror. Now they are all regular Vegas visitors and headliners. We've loved every minute of our 20 years in Vegas and are wicked excited we get to spend another six at the Rio in the best theater in town. I hate to hurt our next negotiations with Caesars Entertainment, but we have no plans to leave.  We intend to die in office,” said Penn Jillette.
Penn & Teller began entertaining in Las Vegas in1993. But it wasn’t until 8 years later, in 2001 that they joined the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino as a headlining act. Their unique brand of comedy and magic helped reshape the entertainment on the Strip, particularly that of magicians but Penn & Teller’s arrival also helped bring awareness to Vegas charities Aid for AIDS of Nevada, United Blood Services and Opportunity Village. The duo have been big supporters of all of these charities over the past 20 years here, even hosting the annual “13 Bloody Days of Christmas” to raise awareness for the need of blood donations.
You can catch Penn & Teller and their 20 years of entertaining experience at the Penn & Teller Theatre at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino nightly (dark Thursdays and Fridays) at 9 p.m.

In other celebrity news, Actor John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston hosted two dinners at the restaurant Alex in the Wynn to promote their fall dinner for U.S. military.

And speaking of dining at the Wynn, 2012 Playboy Playmate of the Year Jaclyn Swedberg and November 2011 Playmate Ciara Price enjoyed dinner together at Andrea’s in Steve Wynn’s Encore. The lovely ladies then joined Lil Jon in the DJ booth next door at Surrender.

Boxing legend and Las Vegas resident Mike Tyson was spotted at Carla Pellegrino’s Meatball Spot in Town Square with UFC champ Frank Mir and BMX pro T.J. Levin.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles partied at Tao in the Venetian for a friend’s bachelor party while “House” actor Omar Epps and his wife enjoyed a night at Marquee Nightclub at the Cosmopolitan.

That’s all of the celebrity news I have for today. Check back tomorrow for more.
