After years of stage diving, throwing cake and spraying champagne onto his adoring fans during performances, Dim Mak Records founder Steve Aoki is about to add blue paint throwing to his lineup of onstage antics when he joins Venetian headliners Blue Man Group for a special artistic collaboration at this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival. Insomniac Events recently announced the combination of Steve Aoki’s high-energy DJ performances with the wildly inventive act of the Blue Man Group for a one-of-a-kind multimedia experience on Saturday, June 9 during North America’s largest electronic dance music festival. The three-day event will be held June 8-10 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Pasquale Rotella, founder of Insomniac said of the collaboration, "since our debut in the desert last summer, Las Vegas has largely been our muse, and what better way to honor the city than introducing the dynamic Blue Man Group experience to our audience through an original performance with Steve Aoki. Aoki is one of the most entertaining DJs to watch as he exudes a raw energy during each set. In bringing these two together, we anticipate this will be an explosive moment at EDC and take the performance to the next level." There’s no doubt the collaboration between Blue Man Group and Aoki will be a memorable one, if you can even stand the energy and intense visuals it’s sure to illicit. Blue Man Group’s nightly performances often fuse music, dance and humor for a show that’s nothing short of eclectic and Aoki’s DJ sets usually leave guests soaked in champagne and danced out from hours of non-stop music. "Electric Daisy Carnival is the ultimate life force, a fully immersive audiovisual experience. A luminescence event of this nature is so much a part of Blue Man Group's DNA, there really is no better place for us to be," said Chris Wink, founder of Blue Man Group. "Steve Aoki, whose performance is just as important as his music, presents the perfect partnership as those qualities completely match our own artistic desires. It will be a night of outrageous color, humor, music and technology all on one stage." Aoki even weighed in on the partnership saying, "I've always worked hard to deliver the most entertaining performance possible and what better way to do that than to partner with Blue Man Group for Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas." Stay tuned for more details on this unique relationship.
