In true Las Vegas fashion, The Entertainment Capital of the World kicked off their annual Carnevale events at the Venetian and the Palazzo earlier in the week with one of the most stylish and fashionable celebrities in the industry today. Kimora Lee Simmons, television’s most fabulous fashionista oozed glamour and style when she surprised Carnevale-goers for the kick off event at the Las Vegas’ hotels on Monday.
The event took place at Doge’s Palace Plaza outside the Venetian where guests were invited to preview the summer-long festivities. Guests were treated to Italian-inspired food and drink, lighted characters, and performances from Salvador Live! and violin trio Alizma. Kimora surprised onlookers when she arrived on a float hidden behind a jeweled-and-feathered mask headpiece. Once revealed, Kimora joined hotel president John Caparella and led the crowd in a countdown to the finale: an inaugural unveiling of “The Light of Venice” 3D light show, where the façade of the Clock Tower was illuminated into a spectacular light performance. Kimora ended the glamorous night by cutting a piece of cake created specifically for the kick off event and fed it to one of the lighted characters of the evening. She then insisted on one of the Venetian’s fabulous gondola rides before having a late dinner at chef Wolfgang Puck’s CUT at the Palazzo. If you missed Monday’s kick-off Carnevale event you still have the next three-months to enjoy the classic Italian festivities that include entertainment, art, music and food. In fact, this Friday, the Venetian will present a comprehensive look at Leonardo da Vinci’s work. Da Vinci- The Genius will include more than 75 life-size machine inventions created by Italian artisans from the Renaissance and French science engineer and fine art examiner Pascale Cotte will present “The Secrets of the Mona Lisa.” Stay tuned for more Carnevale festivities throughout the month of June. On Tuesday, actor Taye Diggs enjoyed the early show of Criss Angel Believe by Cirque du Soleil at the Luxor. Joined by his brother Gabrielle Diggs and three friends, the group enjoyed cocktails while they watched the magic show and afterwards joined Criss backstage in his dressing room where they asked the Magician of the Century about his famous upside down straight-jacket escape and praised his show. After the Las Vegas show, Diggs and crew enjoyed Lavo’s All Night Tuesdays where they took in the sounds of DJ Jason Lema. Diggs was even spotted shaking hands with fans while inside the Las Vegas nightclub. That’s all of the celebrity news I have for today but check back tomorrow for this weekend’s celebrity preview.
