What to do in Vegas in June 2012

Summer officially begins this month and while Las Vegas has been partying like it’s summer since April this month the Entertainment Capital of the World really heats up with some of the city’s biggest events of the year including the 2012 Miss USA Pageant at Planet Hollywood, World Series of Poker at the Rio, the Venetian Carnevale and so much more. Without further ado, here’s what’s hot in Las Vegas in June:

Comedy

There’s certainly no shortage of good comedians in Las Vegas and this June the city will hit your funny bone with four of the funniest comics around. The laugh fest starts with former “Whose Line Is It Anyway” star Wayne Brady when he brings his award-winning improvisational skills to the Mirage this Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2. Joining Brady on the Mirage stage this month is the woman who has own the American Comedy Award for “Best Female Comedian” Kathleen Madigan. The “Last Standing Comic” will bring her award-winning comedy to the Mirage on Friday, June 15.  At the Venetian, “Home Improvement” star Tim Allen will bring his not so family-friendly but still hilarious act to the stage on Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9.  Later this month for one night only, stand-up comedian and ventriloquist, Jeff Dunham will hit Caesars Palace, and he’s bound to bring his hilarious friends Peanut, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, and rest of the gang to join him on June 22nd!  Also, check out Ron White and Rita Rudner this month!

New Hosts

Rio will welcome from June 7th-24th, former “Blossom” star Joey Lawrence to Chippendales.  As guest host of the most popular male revue striptease show in Las Vegas, expect Joey Lawrence to boogie with the boys and don the signature bowtie while admiring his chiseled physique.  Other Chippendales guest hosts have included Jake Pavelka (“Bachelor”) and Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees.  And speaking of 98 Degrees, Former band member and brother to Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey will be hosting The Price is Right Live show at the Bally’s Las Vegas from June 6th-17th.  Check out these new Las Vegas show hosts only this June!

Miss USA

For the past week, 51 Miss USA contestants have taken over the Strip for photo sessions, meet-and-greets and preliminary competitions. It all comes to a head this Sunday when the gorgeous ladies descend upon Planet Hollywood for the 61st Annual Miss USA Pageant to see who will be crowned the next Miss USA. The live broadcast begins at 9P.M. ET.

Venetian Carnevale Events

The Venetian and the Palazzo are celebrating summer the only way they know how, with three months of parties during Carnevale. The annual event that celebrates the magic and fantasy of Carnevale will feature classic Italian festivities at both Las Vegas hotels beginning June 4 and running through September 9. In June, guests to Carnevale will be able to experience amazing art and artists including 3D chalk artists, glassblowers, an art walk and living art installations.

Anniversaries

The Beatles Love by Cirque du Soleil will celebrate its sixth anniversary at the Mirage on Wednesday, June 6. Last year the Las Vegas show welcomed Yoko Ono, Sir Paul McCartney and Olivia Harrison to the commemorative fifth anniversary. Stay tuned for more details on who’s expected to be in attendance for this year’s celebration.

World Series of Poker

The world’s largest, richest and longest-running poker tournament the World Series of Poker continues at the Rio from now through July 16. While the event actually kicked off on Sunday, May 27, the bulk of the action will happen in June as dozens of contestants compete in the 61-event competition for the game’s most coveted trophy – a World Series of Poker Champion’s Bracelet.

Fashion

The International Beauty Show will hit the Las Vegas Convention Center from June 9th-11th, so expect some celebrities, special shows, and after-parties all around Vegas that weekend.  In more fashion news, Wynn Las Vegas will also give guests and visitors the opportunity to get a jump start on summer clothes and accessories this month with two special retail trunk shows. Beginning Friday, June 1 shoppers will get the chance to experience famed brand Luli Fama, and SAME SKY as they show off this season’s latest trends on June 15th & 16th.
