Whoa! Joey Lawrence Takes It Off at Chippendales at Rio in Vegas
|
There is a reason Chippendales at the Rio has won both the Readers’ and Critics’ Choice in the annual “Best of Las Vegas” awards year after year. It’s because the sexy male revue knows how to get hearts thumping with some of the hottest and hunkiest men out there today. Such will be the case beginning in June when your favorite television heartthrob joins the studly cast of strippers.
For the first time since the television show “Blossom” went off the air, guests to Chippendales at the Rio really will be saying ”Whoa” when actor Joey Lawrence strips down to next to nothing but a bow-tie and cuff links and shows off his muscles, (which we know he’s still sporting… Have you seen previews for Melissa and Joey?!), vocal talents, and dance moves as he plays celebrity host from June 7-24. No official word yet if the hunky star will really tear off his tux, T-shirt and pants, but we’re certainly hoping so!
Actor, dancer, and another heartthrob Channing Tatum will also make his debut as male stripper next month. Channing stars as an exotic dancer in the upcoming film “Magic Mike.” The movie is loosely based on male revue dancers like Chippendales and has even borrowed the Chippendales signature uniform of collars and cuff for the movie.
Lawrence’s steamy hosting duties will lead up to the film’s release on June 29 and also coincide with Chippendales 4,000th performance on May 31.
Lawrence is the latest celebrity in a slew of stars, including “Jersey Shore’s” Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, 98 Degrees singer Jeff Timmons and former “Bachelor” Jake Pavelka who have donned the famous bow tie and not much else for a limited engagement run at the sexy adult male revue at the Rio.
This will be the second time in less than a month that Las Vegas has been beaming over news about the star of Melissa and Joey and current Old Navy spokesperson. At the end of April, the hunky actor and his equally hunky brothers celebrated Lawrence’s 36th birthday at the Paris where they dined at Sugar Factory American Brasserie, enjoyed a birthday treat at the adjoining retail store and partied at Chateau Nightclub & Gardens.
In other non-male revue news, Olympic figure-skating champion Scott Hamilton enjoyed Terry Fator’s headliner show at the Mirage and met the star backstage before curtain up for a photo with the ventriloquist and his wife Terry Makakoa. The Queen of Burlesque Dita Von Teese arrived at Mandalay Bay yesterday for her three nights at House of Blues starting today. Stay tuned for more details on Von Teese’s shows.
That’s all of the celebrity news I have for today but check back tomorrow for this weekend’s celebrity preview.
