Ethel M. Chocolate Factory Tour

Enter a world where, a la Willy Wonka, luscious brown chocolate flows into titanic-sized vats and large sheets of peanut brittle are cut down into mouth-friendly portions. Ethel M. Chocolate Factory, located about six miles from the Las Vegas Strip, offers visitors a free-self guided tour through its facility, which produces popular products like M&M’s, Mars Bars, and Milky Way, in addition to sweets from the Ethel M. collections.

Guests will get to see chocolates, caramels, and creams being melted, molded, and made in the Henderson factory, which processes the chocolate through a series of pipes, conveyor belts, and 20,000 – 35,000 gallon tanks. The candy-making process is explained in full via displays and television monitors, while guests get to see the chocolate factory’s live operations from behind glass walls. Guests will also get to tour a showroom of exquisite candy masterpieces, including sculptures made entirely out of – you guessed it – chocolate.

As you finish up this sweet tour, you’ll arrive at the Chocolate Lounge, where Ethel’s generously provides its guests with free samples in a chic and relaxing atmosphere. There, guests can purchase their own taste of Ethel’s diverse chocolate collection to take home, including a few other treats like gourmet apples, warm fondues, and chilled beverages.

After your tour of the factory, be sure to explore the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory’s Botanical Gardens, which features two and-a-half acres of desert flora from the Southwest and other deserts of the world. Burn off your chocolate calories as you stroll past 350 different species of cactus and succulents in this arid landscape built by family patriarch Forrest Mars.

Completely free, a tour of Ethel’s is best taken during the week, when guests can actually see factory workers making chocolate on the line. Special guided tours for groups of ten or more are also available by calling ahead.

Ethel M’s is near the Las Vegas Strip. But if want to bundle a trip to Ethel M’s with another tour, there are a few Hoover Dam tours that make a stop at Ethel M. Chocolate Factory like the Hoover Dam City Deluxe Tour by Gray Line ToursLake Mead Cruise & Hoover Dam Tour by Gray Line Tours, and Hoover Dam Mining Town TourThe Green Valley Courtyard by Marriott is also less than a mile away.
