I am a big fan of the Downtown scene. It is just more my style. It is a lot let crowded than the busy Strip, and it is a lot more at my pace. I loved staying at the El Cortez. It was only one block from Fremont Street and all of the other great downtown hotels. And, not to mention, what I paid for three nights at the El Cortez was what one could drop staying at a Strip hotel for ONE night alone! Downtown is a bargain. If you don’t plan on spending a ton of time on the Strip, the downtown hotels are great. I loved the classic Las Vegas feel of the El Cortez Hotel. The casino still uses the coins for the slot machines, instead of the print out tickets, giving it an older and classic feel. Plus, the odds are a lot better downtown than on the Strip. AND, it is cheaper to play! The minimums downtown are a lot lower than those on the Strip! The hotel, in general, isn’t super fancy but it is clean, comfortable, and peaceful. Our room was nice for the price we paid. I would definitely stay here again. – Shawn B. (Chicago, IL)
