Excalibur Lobby Review

The outside of the Excalibur gives most guests a pretty good idea of the type of décor that they will find inside the hotel. The castle façade draws in guests as they walk along the Las Vegas Strip. Anyone that passes can’t help but wonder what is inside. The front doors are adorned with colorful flags and pillars that remind guests of the medieval adventure that they are about to embark on.

As you walk through the doors, you will enter a world that is both ancient and modern at the same time. The large lobby is so tall that it is almost impossible to see the ceiling. The walls are made of stone with flags and stained glass in a round room that seems to have no corners, no beginning, and no end. In the center you will see a large fountain with colorful fish statues spitting water as passersby throw pennies for good luck. However, right in the center of the room are escalators that may spoil the effect just a little, but the room is much too tall to walk up steps. Just off the main lobby you will find ticket booths, an arcade for the kids, restaurants, and of course, the casino. Unlike many hotels in Las Vegas, the Excalibur is much easier to navigate because almost everything breaks off of the large circular lobby that serves as the center of the tower. If you are ever lost, just find your way back to the large round opening and start again from the lobby. Colorful flags hang from every wall in the lobby representing different townships or countries that may have been feuding back in the time of King Arthur.

When most people arrive at the hotel, the first thing they think is that there doesn’t seem to be any windows on the castle and they hope their guest room has windows. Of course, all rooms at the Excalibur hotel have windows. In fact, the castle itself is not where the rooms are located. The rooms are accessible through walkways that lead to adjoining towers hidden behind the eccentric façade that you see from the street.
