Excalibur Room Review

Excalibur is one of the largest resorts in the world. The huge white towers glisten at night and can be seen from miles away. However, the real beauty is what’s inside these towers. From the outside, the building carries a sense of mystery that beckons those outside to come in for a look. The Excalibur hotel offers a fun medieval theme that is attractive for kids and families. However, after the recent renovations, many of the rooms are actually contemporary and not themed at all like you might expect. The newer widescreen rooms offer 42” plasma screen televisions, pillow top mattresses, large private bathrooms with granite countertops, alarm clocks with iPod inputs, great views of the Strip, and panoramic windows. The décor of the updated rooms is green, grey, orange, and brown creating a warming atmosphere that is relaxing and inviting after a long day of Las Vegas fun. The bathrooms are large and include a walk-in shower and granite countertops. Although the hotel is themed for families, these rooms offer a nice retreat for couples traveling without kids. These rooms are quiet and offer floor-to ceiling windows with beautiful panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip. The newer rooms also offer easy elevator access to the pool and spa areas of the hotel.

If you are traveling with kids and looking for something a little more fun, try the standard guest rooms. These are slightly themed with medieval looking furniture and pointed bedposts. These rooms feature heavy wood furniture that you will remind you of the renaissance era, cable TV, internet, irons, hair dryers, and spacious bathrooms. Ornate tapestries and dark burgundy tones throughout add to the rustic feel of your medieval retreat. If you’re traveling with kids and are looking for a little more space, try the Guest Suites. Each comes with separate living and bedroom areas. Spa suites offer a spa tub built for two; perfect for a romantic weekend. All suites include a full living room, dining area, refrigerator, guest bathroom, marble spa and shower. The widescreen guest room offers large plasma TVs in every room, a wet bar, dining area, a marble spa tub in the bedroom and a semi-private frosted glass bathroom that helps blend together the contemporary look of the room with the theme of the hotel. Furnishings seem contemporary, however if you look close you will see medieval touches. Headboards in classic medieval shapes and antique furniture offset the otherwise modern suites.

Although all these renovations are upgraded and luxurious, many still come to the Excalibur and actually request the older rooms. This hotel is one of the rare properties that still has some of its good old Las Vegas flair which includes (like it or not) a somewhat cheesy theme.
