Known as “The Tank” the pool at the Golden Nugget is nothing like the glitzy casino you’ve just stepped out of. Instead, the pool here will remind you of something you would find at a tropical Caribbean resort. Lounge chairs barely sit half-sunk in a shallow wading pool overlooking a massive shark tank. Want to get closer to the aquarium? The only way to do this is to take a ride on the enclosed water slide that shoots right through the tank filled with sharks, fish, and other sea creatures. Once you’re dumped back into the pool, treacherous looking waterfalls come pounding into the water below.
Take the stairs above the shark tank and find a private area where cabanas can be rented daily. Not in the mood for a dip? No problem. The Golden Nugget brings the casino outside to the pool deck. So you can still be a part of the action with poolside (and we’re talking don’t lean back to far in your chair kind of poolside) poker and blackjack tables. Sticking with the casino theme, you can relax in a hot tub shaped like a club. You can also relax by the pool in furniture that is comfortable. It wouldn’t look at all out of place inside one of the guest rooms. There are sofas, loveseats, coffee tables, all with overstuffed cushions for your enjoyment. If you get thirsty you can enjoy a nice frozen drink that is sure to beat the heat at the Dive Bar. The best part about this pool is that it’s open year round!
