Hard Rock Casino and Sports Book Review

It’s not secret that Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is one of the hippest hotels in Las Vegas and the casino is really no different. This truly isn’t your grandpa’s casino. You won’t find many older locals with cigars in their mouth betting on the ponies and you won’t find someone that looks like she could be your grandma playing keno. In fact, the games here are hip, hot, and fast-paced. The casino can get just as wild as the clubs, until all hours of the night, and it’s not unlikely to see models, celebrities, or even some of your favorite athletes at the card tables. When it comes to the VIPs in town, this is one of their favorite places to gamble.

The casino is relatively small compared to most, but all your favorite games are there like blackjack, baccarat, roulette, mini-baccarat, Pai Gow, Let It Ride, Big Six, Rapid Roulette, Casino War, craps, and much more. However, the rules at Hard Rock are just as strict as the Strip hotels so don’t expect great odds here, only a great atmosphere. For example, there is no surrender on blackjack and the dealer hits soft 17 just like in the bigger casinos on the Strip. Also, expect standard pay-outs for single deck blackjack. Minimum bets are standard at around $10 most nights. However, less popular games like Caribbean Stud and No-Bust 21 can often be played with minimums of only $5. There are over 600 slot machines at Hard Rock which start at a penny and can go as high as $100. Slot players can join the Rockstar Club which allows slot players to receive comps instantly.

For high-rollers (who frequent the Hard Rock) there are two high-limit areas that offer upscale gaming to their most privileged players. For high-limit table games, the Peacock lounge offers luxury service like personal cocktail waitresses as well as a gaming environment secluded from the rest of the casino. For high-stakes slot machines, try the Fender Room.

The Hard Rock also offers a great sports book with fifteen large plasma screen TVs perfect for watching a big event like the Kentucky Derby or the Super Bowl. However, this sports book can get very crowded during big events so be sure to get there early to reserve a good seat. The sports book also offers individual lounge areas with leather seats and individual screens for high-rollers betting on the games. Free drinks are only given with drink tickets handed out when betting at one of the five betting windows.
