Harrah’s is one of the older and, not to mention, one of the favorite properties on the Strip. Local’s and tourists flock to Harrah’s for the reasonably priced rooms, restaurants, and not to mention just a great location on the middle of the Strip. Young people come for the fun New Orleans atmosphere and hip Carnival Court flair bar, while the older crowd comes for the discount buffets and penny slots. Harrah’s has something for everyone and at no casino on the Strip are you likely to find such a wide assortment of people from all walks of life.
The casino offers all the games: blackjack, baccarat, roulette, mini-baccarat, Pai Gow, Let It Ride, Big Six, Rapid Roulette, Casino War, craps, and much more. The minimum bets for table games are pretty standard at $10 for most games, even craps is at least $10 with 3-4-5x odds. High-limit games in the pit area have minimums starting at $50 for high-rollers. When it comes to slot machines, Harrah’s is really the place to come. They have them all. From the old Lucky 7’s to the new progressive games with tickets and interactive video screens. Slot machines range from a penny up to around $100. Cocktail service in the Harrah’s casino is some of the best. The waitresses wear cute barely there costumes that are authentically Mardi Gras. They also come around often and bring strong drinks. Other comps like food and discounted rooms are usually awarded to players betting around $50 and up per hand and play for several hours at a time. Many local’s love playing at Harrah’s because they are loyal to frequent customers and it is a great place to get a rewards card because the card is accepted at all the Harrah’s properties. When the pit bosses see someone coming back they often make sure to shower them with comps.
The Sports Pit at Harrah’s is always full of action and a fun site to see whether you are actually betting or not. There are 13 large TVs and lots of seats. What’s interesting about this casino is that the sports book and poker rooms are combined. This gives the room an authentic “guys room” type of feel. The atmosphere of a bunch of guys sitting around, watching sports, and playing poker is more reminiscent of someone’s living room than an upscale casino. This casual atmosphere is really what makes the dynamic here so interesting. Whether or not these conditions are conducive for playing poker, however, is still up in the air.
