Welcome to ancient Egypt...oops, we mean Las Vegas. Large Egyptian statues stand as guards to the front entrance of the hotel. As you enter, it will be almost impossibly not to look up. You will soon realize that the outside of the hotel is not just a facade; it's actually a hollow pyramid. One of the only structures of its kind in the world, the Luxor pyramid is one thing in Las Vegas that must be experienced first hand. As you approach the casino and reception areas you will notice water features and rivers that run through the lobby just like the Nile in Egypt. Grand statues rise so high above your head that you can't help but wonder, "How did that fit through the front door?" Black, gold, and silver decor creates a grand theme that is both beautiful as well as historically accurate. Many of the statues inside the lobby are designed after actual statues found outside tombs in Egypt.
Unlike, the real pyramids, however; you won't find any mummies in here. The environment inside this pyramid is alive and full of energy. The carpet and other decor is the color of sand to draw focus to the centerpieces. Cats were considered sacred in ancient Egypt and many of the statues will have the face of a cat but the body of a human. Hieroglyphics and other symbols fill the walls in the beautifully lit atrium. Look around and notice the hotel rooms. This pyramid isn't just for show. In fact, many of the hotel rooms at the Luxor are located right inside the pyramid itself. How do you get to your room? A diagonal elevator, of course. So it must be true what they say...only in Vegas.
