If you still call Planet Hollywood the Aladdin, then you probably haven’t been inside it in a while. Many old-time Vegas lovers where outraged when they heard that their beloved Aladdin was being sold and changed to the hip and trendy Planet Hollywood. However, change isn’t always bad and the Planet Hollywood has become a landmark on the Strip. It’s only fitting that Hollywood would have a place on the Strip which already has a mini-New York, Paris, Rome, and Venice. Now Hollywood is not only a city within a city in Las Vegas, it’s an entire Planet!
Walk through the sleek façade that you will find outside the Planet Hollywood and you are entered into a world of glitz and glamour that may seem even more like traditional Las Vegas then the archetypal Planet Hollywood. The floors are sleek, the walls are shiny, and everywhere you look you are reminded of glamorous 1920’s Hollywood. As you step into the lobby you will see brilliant displays of lights behind the check-in desk that change and create beautiful patterns. You will also see large LCD TVs enticing you with colorful advertisements for entertainment options available at the hotel. You will also notice chandeliers covered in sparkling LCD lights that hang from the ceiling but drape all the way to the floor. These elegant chandeliers are the focal point of this lobby and they change colors as you watch them creating a calming feeling similar to watching a lava lamp. Also, don’t forget to take a look at the walls and admire the movie memorabilia. Just like in one of the Planet Hollywood restaurants, you can admire props, costumes, and set pieces that are straight out of the movies. On the check-in desk you will notice neon strips that run across the wall making this lobby look like something from the future. The marble floors in this lobby are so clean and shiny that you’ll hardly want to walk on them.
The hotel is expertly designed so that guests who are checking in don’t have to enter at the casino level. They can be dropped off right outside the check-in are and don’t have to walk through the busy casino to get their room key. In fact, they don’t have to walk through the casino to get to their room either. Which means tired guests can check in late and head peacefully up to their rooms without interrupting anyone’s craps game and the décor of the lobby carries right up into the guest rooms which are contemporary without forgetting to pay homage to the movies that made this place famous.
