The Riviera is one of the older properties on the Strip, but it’s a Las Vegas classic. The glamour of old Las Vegas still shines bright on the dazzling LCD display out front. Before the Fremont Experience, the light display at the Riviera as the brightest light show in town and while things may be getting bigger everyday on the Strip, the Riviera has not been forgotten. For the locals it’s a favorite place to play, for visitors it’s a landmark that everyone wants to see.
The casino at the Riviera offers some great gaming considering its central location on the North end of the Strip. The Riviera has tons of games but they really focus on the classics. The majority of their tables are blackjack but they also have baccarat, craps, Pai Gow, Let It Ride, roulette, and even some of the less popular games. Locals and beginners love to gamble here because of the low minimums. Most tables start at only $5 per hand during the week. Like most casinos, the prices tend to go up on the weekends and during holidays. However, you would be hard pressed to find $5 minimum bets anywhere else on the Strip. The Riviera is famous for their casino-within-a-casino of slot machines. They offer plenty of penny slots in their Penny Town area of the casino which continues to draw in the locals and the old-timers. Penny Town also has its own snack bar. Penny Town doesn’t just offer penny slots, they have lots of nickels as well. The casino also offers more expensive slots sprinkled about the rest of the casino. The Riviers is known as being extra generous with their comps. They offer food to people betting as little $10 a hand a higher. Free rooms are offered to those betting $50 a hand or higher. So if you’re looking to stay here and play here, it’s a great place to come.
The race and sports book is a place where serious race and sports bettors love to gather, watch, and relax. They have 50 flat screen TVs that play almost any game, race, or event you could think of. There is a lounge for sports fans to sit and relax while the race bettors have traditional desks with small TVs.
There is also a nice sized poker room with seven tables. The poker room is partially enclosed so the serious poker players can concentrate. They deal mostly standard $2-$4 Hold-em. Because this poker room is a little quieter than most you will almost never have to wait for a table and can get in on all the action right away.
