Sunset Station Casino Review

The Sunset Station is located in Henderson, NV about halfway between the Strip and the Hoover Dam. The location is perfect for nature lovers looking to spend part of their vacation discovering the great outdoors either on a Hoover Dam tour or rafting on the Colorado River. However, some visitors may consider the casino pretty out of the way so Sunset Station provides great comps, odds, and casino rates to draw in the crowds and considering how long this casino has been around, they must be doing something right.

Like other station casinos they gear mostly toward locals and senior citizens with great buffets deals and cheap slots. The casino offers plenty of table games as well with: crap, blackjack, roulette, three card, Pai Gow, Let It Ride, baccarat and a few other less popular games as well. The casino offer low bet minimums no matter what time or day you decide to stop in. Most games start at $5 a hand. Even craps starts at $5 with 10x odds. Even Pai Gow can be played for just $5 which is almost impossible to find on the Strip. Sunset Station is a slot players dream. They have everything and mostly the newer more popular games like Monopoly and Wheel of Fortune. They have penny machines but the majority of machines here are nickels and people love the multi-line video machines, especially when they can be played for only a nickel. They offer a good selection of video poker with pretty good pay-outs. They even some quarter Deuces Wild machines which are almost impossible to find. The cocktails at Sunset Station are strong and the waitresses keep them coming as long as you are betting.

The race and sports book pays equal attention to race and sports bettors. There are about thirty TVs divided equally among racing and sports with 5 big screens showing all the big events of the day. The book is huge with about 280 seats total. Some are lounge style for sports and some have individual TVs for the race bettors. You’ll never wait in line with 20 betting windows and you’ll never go thirsty either. Drinks are free in the sports book which is become increasingly harder to find in the popular Strip casinos.

The action often gets heated up in the poker room. They have nine tables which will most likely be almost full if you come on the weekends so you may have to wait a while to get in on the specific game you want. The atmosphere inside is pretty serious and players are quiet and concentrated so if you’re looking for a party you may want to play somewhere else.
