One of Cirque du Soleil’s many spectacular shows is making headlines here in Vegas. Ka, the epic tale of twins on a perilous journey to fulfill their shared destiny, is making its Comic-Con debut at San Diego’s Petco Park on the comic book convention’s opening night July 21. I normally don’t write about events outside of Las Vegas but being one of Las Vegas’ most popular shows, I had to share Ka’s exciting news with all of you!
The venue has been created especially for Comic-Con and includes 3-D projections and live performers after months of planning.
“I have wanted to see this performance happen on a big outside wall since coming to Ka more than four years ago,” Marie-Helene Gagnon, artistic director of Ka, said in a statement. “To have the opportunity to present it at Comic-Con with 3-D and live artists is both a challenge and a dream come true.”
Congratulations to Ka on their Comic-Con debut! If you want to see the spectacular show for yourself, and in Vegas, you can always find discounted tickets right here on BestofVegas.com!
I also want to congratulate The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, which has been named the Hottest Club in America by Billboard magazine. As the best club in North America for live entertainment, Billboard cited The Joint for intelligent booking, great production values and the ability to raise an act’s profile locally, regionally and nationally.
“No words can describe how excited Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is to have The Joint named the No. 1 club in North America," said Paul Davis, vice president of entertainment at the Hard Rock. "We look forward to continuing to bring top-notch entertainment to Las Vegas and hope to be the best place for live music for years to come.”
For those of you interested in seeing the club Billboard magazine claims is the Hottest Club in America, The Joint’s remaining lineup this year includes Tiesto’s continuing residency, Widespread Panic’s 25th Anniversary Tour (July 15-16), Soundgarden (July 23), Styx and REO Speedwagon (Sept. 24), Furthur featuring Phil Lesh & Bob Weir (Oct. 4), Incubus (Oct. 8), Roger Daltrey performs The Who’s Tommy (Oct. 22) and Judas Priest (Oct. 23).
Another Las Vegas hotel is celebrating today as they reveal a first for the Strip. MGM Resorts International unveiled the first Personal Electric Vehicle (PEV) changing station on The Strip in the valet area at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place. Mandalay Bay’s RM Seafood Chef Rick Moonen, a leader in sustainability and conservation, and execs from MGM Resorts’ Energy and Environmental Services Division, demonstrated the new device. Planet Nissan showcased its electric Nissan Leaf.
