Go ahead, spin the wheel – no, not the roulette wheel, silly. The big wheel of Wheel of Fortune will be heading to Las Vegas to tape four weeks of shows at The Venetian and The Palazzo in July. And Las Vegas locals and visitors will have the chance to be on the show when the show’s promotional vehicle, the Wheelmobile, searches for potential contestants this weekend.
On Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, the Wheelmobile will be camped out at The Venetian from 2 to 6 pm. They’ll be looking for good game players who are energetic, enthusiastic, and fun, so if you fit the description, you just might be chosen to compete on the show. Fans will have the opportunity to fill out an application, have their name drawn at random to play a simulated version of the show on stage, win unique prizes, and be evaluated as a potential contestant for the show tapings in Vegas this summer.
“The Wheelmobile tour gives us the opportunity to present local viewers with a unique and personal experience with the show. It’s a way for us to thank our viewers for their long-term support and for making the show #1,” said Executive Producer Harry Friedman.
Fun fact – the Wheelmobile, which tours nationwide in search of Wheel of Fortune contestants, has visited over 150 cities and logged over 200,000 miles. Over 600,000 Wheel of Fortune fans have come out to greet the 39-foot Winnebago.
The auditions at The Venetian this weekend will take place inside Hall G, which is on the lower level of The Sands Expo and Convention Center; the main entrance for the Wheelmobile event will be at the Sands Main Lower Lobby entrance for Hall G.
Staff members from the Wheel of Fortune promotions team will begin handing out applications one hour before each show begins. On Saturday and Sunday, there’ll be shows at 2 pm, 3:30 pm, and 5 pm, with each show lasting about an hour. Everyone who attends will be able to submit an application, and participants will be chosen at random to come to the stage and audition.
Those who are set on getting a chance to spin the wheel should arrive to the shows early. If you don’t make the cut, however, don’t fret – you can always cheer on a fellow Las Vegas resident when Pat Sajak, Vanna White, and the Los Angeles crew come to town on July 17, 18, 20, and 21. The first week of Las Vegas shows will begin airing on September 14, opening the 27th season of Wheel of Fortune, the #1 rated syndicated show on television.
Both The Venetian and The Palazzo will be featured prominently during the shows, and fans will have a chance to be in the live studio audience by tuning into KVBC 3. Wheel of Fortune airs Monday through Saturday at 7 pm on KVBC 3.
