In addition to Broadway-caliber shows, famous nightclubs and world-class dining experiences, Las Vegas offers a number of activities for adrenaline junkies. Sure, hitting the jackpot at a casino can get your blood pumping, but if you really want to take things to the next level, why not ride a roller coaster, bungee jump off the tallest building in the city, careen down a zipline – or better yet, all of the above?
Whether you’re traveling with your family and are looking to recreate the classic experience of a day at an amusement park, you’re in search of a memorable day with your bachelor or bachelorette crew or you’re looking to finally conquer your fear of heights, a wide variety of adrenaline-pumping activities are just a moment away. Here are a few to consider:
Stratosphere Thrill Rides
We’re starting this list at the very top – literally – with the Stratosphere Thrill Rides. Take the elevator to the top of the highest building in Las Vegas and ride the vertigo-inducing rides. There’s the Big Shot, which shoots you 160 feet in the air and then simulates a free fall on the way back down. There’s Insanity, which is essentially a giant claw that dangles you in the air and spins you over the Strip. And then there’s X-Scream, which drops you over the edge of the tower and holds you in the air before rapidly reversing. Feeling super daring? Opt for the SkyJump, and bungee jump from 829 feet up. You’ll drop at a rate of 40 miles per hour – and you’ll scream the whole time.
Three Different Ziplines
Las Vegas isn’t a city known for half-hearted versions of anything. That’s why the city offers not one but three different ziplines for you to choose from. If you’re downtown, you can ride the Slotzilla, which allows you to soar beneath the Fremont Experience canopy in either a seated or Superman-style position. There’s the VooDoo Zipline at the Rio Hotel and Casino, which takes you between the hotel’s two towers. Ride it at night for a unique view of the city lights, and then grab a much-deserved cocktail at the VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub. If you’ve done the Slotzilla and the VooDoo Zipline, save the date for November 2018 when you can experience the city’s newest zipline. The Fly LINQ Zipline is set to take thrill-seekers over the LINQ Promenade at a height of 12 stories.
The Big Apple Coaster at New York New York
New York City may have the real Statue of Liberty, but New York New York in Las Vegas has a version that you can see from a roller coaster. We’re talking about the Big Apple Coaster, which takes you on a literal whirlwind journey of loops right on Las Vegas Blvd. If you want to upgrade your roller coaster experience, opt for the Big Apple Coaster Virtual Reality Experience. You’ll get outfitted with virtual reality goggles that allow you to chase aliens as you ride the roller coaster.
The Adventuredome at Circus Circus
In search of a vintage Las Vegas experience that evokes memories of childhood? Look no further than the Adventuredome at Circus Circus. The massive carnival-like space inside the classic casino is ideal for families or adults who are kids at heart. Enjoy two different roller coasters, experience 360-degree spins on the Inverter or get catapulted into the sky via the Sling Shot. In addition to Adventuredome’s adrenaline pumping rides, you can also play laser tag, check out a free clown show and try your luck at midway games.
