Las Vegas Boulevard is home to an enormous amount of activities and diversions, including those that appeal to families. However, those who choose to venture beyond the Strip will be rewarded with unique, exciting, and entertaining possibilities for parents and children of all ages. Make your family vacation memorable with visits to these five off-Strip spots.

Springs Preserve
The Springs Preserve offers experiences for younger children with a scientific or natural inclination. Wander from the Flash Flood exhibit, which recreates the natural phenomenon with exciting results, to the Animal Habitats, where desert wildlife can be examined up close. Check out Boomtown 1905, a streetscape which showcases Las Vegas’ beginnings with interactive exhibits, and the Nevada State Museum, where you can weave from ancient mammoth skeleton all the way to showgirl costumes. At Springs Preserve, history is fun. Make sure to check their website for hours and seasonal exhibits.

Pinball Hall of Fame
The family that plays together stays together. And at the Pinball Hall of Fame you’ll have the opportunity to do just that. Beyond the modest exterior of this non-profit organization, lays the potential for hours of joy. Rows upon rows of pinball machines dating all the way back to the 1950s and up to the 1990s are standing at the ready. Exchange Fortnite for a bucket of quarters, and share the magic of the old school arcade with your kids. Among these twinkling lights and sounds, you won’t have to bet big to win big.

Red Rock Canyon
For the outdoorsy and adventurous families, Red Rock Canyon is a must-do while visiting Las Vegas. In this National Conservation Area, you can choose from 27 different hiking trails featuring varying levels of difficulty. No matter how challenging (or not) the trail you choose, it will showcase the spectacular beauty of this natural expanse. For those who prefer to view nature, rather than explore it, the scenic drive offers a respite from the Strip and amazing photo opportunities. Bring a tripod, selfie stick or find a good Samaritan to capture the whole family.

Container Park
More than just an outdoor mall, Container Park is an incubator for small local businesses, and it’s also the ideal spot for families to decompress. For younger kids, an enormous, multiple-story treehouse provides an engaging platform for some energy release. For older kids, freedom while touring the various little shops can provide priceless stories of finding hidden gems. For parents, a relaxing drink or two at one of the many open-air bars can provide much-needed time to enjoy each other’s company while still keeping an eye on the kids.

Minor League Games
For those looking for a sporting event the whole family can appreciate, there are a few affordable options. Games for the Las Vegas Lights FC and the Aviators – the city’s minor league soccer and baseball teams, respectively – are an opportunity to feel like a local. At Cashman Field, where the Lights play, choose seating in the General Admission Supporter section for the ultimate fan experience. At Las Vegas Ballpark, where the Aviators play, partake in elevated culinary ballpark classics while cheering for the team. Either way, you’ll share many memorable family moments.
