Not so long ago, daylight hours in Las Vegas were just a good time for rest and recovery. Then came the beach clubs, which brought nighttime excitement into the spotlight. These days, brunch shows are the "in" thing, and SLS Las Vegas has launched their own. Dubbed Ester Goldberg's Totally Outrageous Brunch, this is one new production that absolutely lives up to its name.
Until recently, Senor Frog's Drag Brunch was the height of morning-meal madness. Then Ester Goldberg and crew came to push the envelope and reach for the ceiling. Literally. Filled with aerial acts, improv comedy, burlesque, dancers, singers, a live band and the best Donald Trump impersonator on the planet, Totally Outrageous Brunch achieves new levels of lunacy.
If you've never heard of Ester Goldberg, don't feel badly. This self-appointed "International Glamour Puss of All Media" is new to the Vegas scene, but proudly boasts that she's famous everywhere else on the planet. Watching Ester in action, you might be reminded of Britain's Dame Edna – but Esther's got a lot more pepper sauce in her Bloody Mary.
Brunch is presented an hour before each show time, so be sure to arrive early. A colorful array of fresh fruits, yogurt parfaits and bakery-shop specialties lead into a hearty selection of breakfast sandwiches, gourmet deviled eggs, chicken and waffles and an incredible smoked pork belly. While dining, you'll be treated to teaser performances from a few of the stars. It's best not to tell too much, but don't be surprised if your table suddenly has a bawdy additional guest.
The cast of Totally Outrageous Brunch is a wonderful collection of local and national talent. Fiery redhead Anne Martinez (BAZ) and Zumanity/Zarkana alumnus Cassie Stone enter The Sayer's Club dressed as nuns. They start things off with a medley of "Like A Prayer" and "I Will Follow Her" which somehow morphs into a striptease.
Dancer/aerialist Michael Radiff (ALICE: A Steampunk Concert Fantasy) portrays a hysterically inept flamenco dancer who bumbles his way through lap dances. Then he and ALICE costar April Leopardi (Zombie Burlesque) take to the air for a sensual interpretation of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire."
Would you prefer a little beefcake with your croissant? Handsome French muscleman and former Cirque du Soleil performer Matheiu Bollilo strips down to his tights for a gravity-defying handstand act that will having you clutching your cantaloupe.
A highlight of Totally Outrageous Brunch is rising superstar John Di Domenico. Recently awarded "Best Donald Trump Impersonator" by The View, Di Domenico will blow you away with a flawless take on #45. His Donald sings, dances and keeps you up to date on the latest shenanigans in the White House. It's completely searing, mildly scandalous and absolutely brilliant.
Hostess Ester Goldberg is a master of improvisation. Her interactive segments ensure that everyone will have a great time. Whether it's a double-entendre laced ode to her rain-soaked kitty or re-enacting an inappropriate visit to the dentist, nothing is too scandalous for Ms. Goldberg. If you think you'll be safe by sitting in the back, thing again. Nobody and nothing will be spared.
Like any good variety show, expect a rotating roster of acts and performers. Among those who have made special, one-time guest appearances are magician Murray Sawchuck of Pawn Stars fame and Amy Saunders of Miss Behave Gameshow. This ensures that Totally Outrageous Brunch will always be fresh – the food as well as the fun.
Ester Goldberg's Totally Outrageous Brunch is located inside The Sayer's Club at SLS Las Vegas. Showtimes are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Brunch is served one hour before each performance. This event is for audience members 21 and over.
