Many strip celebrities were spotted at Chef Carla Pellegrino’s MeatBall Spot for the VIP Grand Opening. Guests like Stratosphere singer Frankie Moreno enjoyed small bites and chocolate desserts as Chef Pellegrino cut the ribbon with oversized scissors. Magician and Tropicana headliner Murray SawChuck; his wife Chloe Louise Crawford of Luxor’s “Fantasy;” and Doug “Lefty” Leferovich, featured magician in Murray’s show also celebrated with Chef Carla Pellegrino at Town Square Las Vegas. Specialty cocktails, a DJ and plenty of the restaurant’s signature meatball sliders, pizzas and dessert bites made the bash the place to be.

Comedian ventriloquist, Terry Fator has been making headlines lately, or at least made the top of Best of Vegas news the past two days. Yesterday I told you the Mirage headliner renewed his contract at the Las Vegas hotel through 2016 and now it looks like the “America’s Got Talent” Season 2 winner has teamed up with Hard Rock Hotel and its 2012 global Imagine There’s No Hunger campaign to combat childhood hunger and poverty around the world.

Fator, along with other Strip entertainers are participating in the charity by wearing a charity bracelet for one night in November. The celebrity impressionist was spotted wearing his earlier this week in support of the cause.

And speaking of supporting charities, 2012 Miss Universe Contestants are showing off (or testing out) their painting skills to create pieces of art to be auctioned off in support of Nevada’s children facing life-threatening diseases.

The artsy event will take place Monday, Dec. 10 at Planet Hollywood. To help the contestants with their paintings, Design & Wine experts will be on hand showing the ladies a step-by-step process to create beautiful pieces of artwork.  The finished piece will be photographed alongside the Miss Universe contestant and bidders from all over the world will have the option to make it a part of their own collection.

Also yesterday, Luxor headliner and wacky comedian Carrot Top hosted a NASCAR version of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” with the 12 star drivers of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.

It was all a part of the Fan Fest at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which continues today with an awards luncheon at the Wynn followed by the NASCAR Victory Lap down the Strip starting from Planet Hollywood at 3 p.m. Then it’s back to Planet Hollywood for the After the Lap Q&A with the drivers.

On Friday, the live black-tie telecast of the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards on Speed TV takes place at the Wynn with host Howie Mandel and performances by Train, Lifehouse, Natasha Bedingfield and “American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips.

That’s all of the celebrity news I have for today. Check back tomorrow for this weekend’s celebrity preview.
