Running is the last think you expect to see a celebrity doing on the Strip. Drinking, yes. Partying, yes. Shopping, yes. Eating, yes. But running? Not usually. Except for maybe once a year when thousands of runners and some famous faces come out to run or support two of Las Vegas’ most famous races: the Great Santa Run and Zappos Rock n’ Roll Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon. And that’s exactly what happened this past weekend as a few of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, laced up their running shoes, threw on their best Santa outfits and hit the Strip for another unusual weekend in Vegas. If you missed it, here’s a quick recap of who ran, who entertained and who watched:

On the red carpet for the Zappos 26.2 marathon and half marathon were Nikki Reed from “Twilight” who I’m guessing didn’t run quite as fast as her vampire character in the mega-hit film does, Paul McDonald of “American Idol,” Sean Lowe from “The Bachelor,” reality TV star Kate Gosselin from “Jon & Kate Plus 8” fame and Nicole Sullivan of “Cougar Town.”

The 32,000 runners were treated to entertainment from some of the Strip’s biggest stars and shows including Cirque du Soleil casts from “Ka” at MGM Grand and “The Beatles Love” at the Mirage.

Prior to the Zappos marathon, Strip stars spread some holiday cheer at the Great Santa Run including Terry Fator and his wife Taylor Makakoa, who served as grand marshals while Luxor headliners the Jabbawockeez and “Fantasy” singer Lorena Peril and her stunning dancers entertained the crowd. “Jersey Boys” at Paris star Jeff Leibow sang the national anthem while four sky-riding Santas parachuted into the crowd. The cast of the 1980’s musical “Legwarmers” at Planet Hollywood also got in on the running fun.

In other non-running celebrity news, funnyman Peter Dante, best known for his role in “Grandma’s Boy” and “The Waterboy,” partied with friends at Ghostbar in the Palms on Monday night. Before leaving the Las Vegas nightclub around 2 a.m., Dante signed Ghostbar’s shakedown wall like so many other celebrities have done before him.

NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin was at Marquee Nightclub inside the Cosmopolitan on Saturday night. The driver listened to the sounds of Cederic Gervais from a VIP table in the main room.

Blonde beauty Holly Madison, her beau and baby daddy Pasquale Rotella and “Peepshow” star Josh Strickland were spotted once again at Meatball Spot at Town Square on Sunday night.

That’s all of the celebrity news I have for today. Check back tomorrow for much more!
