Whether you are a Las Vegas local looking for a close getaway or a Las Vegas visitor with an urge to change up your scenery, there’s a resort for you, on and off the Las Vegas Strip.

On the Las Vegas Strip
Trump Hotel
Trump Hotel offers a smoke-free, non-gaming environment with amenities for children and pets.

Why we like it:
The Trump Kids program offers specialized amenities for children including gifts upon check in and menus that cater to tiny diners. The pool has air-conditioned cabanas. The hotel is pet-friendly, and offers special amenities for furry guests.

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino
This property offers what may be the best pool complex in all of Las Vegas. Sandy beaches, a lazy river and the wave pool are all part of the 11-acre Mandalay Bay Beach and make for a perfect day of fun in the sun.

Why we like it:
More than 20 restaurants on property including a food court. Easy access to other properties with the tram. Home to the Shark Reef, an expansive aquarium with more than 2,000 different species.

Off the Strip
Green Valley Ranch Resort & Casino
This resort is located south of Las Vegas in Henderson, just off the expressway. Green Valley Ranch offers visitors 8 restaurants, including a well-priced buffet, two pools, gaming, spas and more.

Why we like it:
The pool has a sandy beach entrance, great for kids to play and build sandcastles. The property includes both a movie theater and a Kid’s Quest, if parents need some time away. Adjacent to the property is The District at Green Valley Ranch, offering shopping, dining, live music, outdoor movies and a splash pad for the kids.

Worth the Drive
Retreat on Charleston Peak

Less than one hour from Las Vegas, you can find an entirely different world in the Spring Mountains. With much milder summer temps than the desert below it, Mount Charleston is perfect for a summer escape or a wintery adventure.

Why we like it:
The property is located minutes from Lee Canyon, the ski resort, and gives you quick access to the many trails located on the mountain as well as the Visitor’s Center. Retreat on Charleston Peak can accommodate families, and is pet-friendly and smoke-free. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and a delicious brunch.

Casablanca Resort & Casino
Head North to Mesquite and you’ll find the best pool and spa at the most affordable rate. The Casablanca Resort & Casino has an amazing pool including a waterfall, slide and plenty of seating. Adult guests can enjoy the spa, truly a hidden gem, or schedule a tee time for a round of golf. When hunger strikes, there’s no shortage of options, but Katherine’s Steakhouse is an award-winning restaurant and an experience you won’t forget.

Why we like it:
The pool is amazing. A hot dog cart serves 75-cent Hebrew National hot dogs during the day. Treat yourself to ice cream at Scoops, or enjoy the buffet, café or in-room dining. Parking is free. The resort fee won’t make you cry. The sister property, Virgin River, offers a stellar arcade the kids will love, plus bowling.

Avi Resort & Casino
Head across the Hoover Dam and set your sites on the Colorado River for a getaway you won’t forget. The Avi Resort & Casino is the perfect places for a family getaway, and less than 90 minutes from Las Vegas.

Why we like it:
The resort has the largest beach along the Colorado River, meaning you can dig your toes in the sand and sun underneath the palm trees. If you want to avoid sand in your shorts, hit the lagoon-style pool, featuring two waterfalls and extended hours, making night swimming an option. Six restaurants, including a food court, making feeding the family easy. A movie theater and arcade can keep kids busy. Parents can take advantage of Kid’s Quest for some adult-only time.
